Rice Wellness Center to host screening of ‘The Line’

The Rice Wellness Center and the Women’s Resource Center will host a film screening and discussion with nationally recognized activist and filmmaker Nancy Schwartzman Oct. 24 as part of the Wellness Workshop Series and ‘Consent is Sexy’ Week, which aims to raise awareness about sexual assault prevention, healthy sexual relationships, and effective boundary-setting and communication.

A screening of Schwartzman’s documentary, “The Line,” will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Keck Hall, Room 100. This will be followed by a community conversation on how to prevent and combat sexual violence.

Schwartzman was named one of the “10 Filmmakers to Watch in 2011” by Independent Magazine. She is the founder and executive director of the The Line Campaign, a nonprofit organization that uses media and action to end sexual violence.

Prior to the event, Schwartzman will be at Rice Coffeehouse from 3 to 5 p.m. at a table sharing local resources for victims of sexual violence and promoting her work and campaigns.
