Houston Business Journal names Rice one of the city’s best places to work

Rice wins honor 8th consecutive year

For the eighth year in a row, Rice University has been named one of Houston’s best places to work by the Houston Business Journal (HBJ).

In the category for businesses with more than 500 employees, Rice ranked No. 7, based on employees’ responses to a 39-question online survey.

Employees evaluated their companies in areas such as goals and leadership, communication and support, advancement opportunities and skill development, recognition and compensation, flexibility and embracing innovation and ideas.

The award was presented Oct. 16 at a luncheon at Hilton Americas-Houston.

Mary Cronin, associate vice president for human resources, applauded Rice faculty and staff for sharing their opinions about the university as a workplace to earn Rice this citywide honor for the eighth time.

“Rice’s faculty and staff will wear the No. 8 proudly, in the company of fellow Owls Derek Brown in football, Chelsey Harris in volleyball, Jasmine Isokpunwu in women’s soccer and John Williamson in baseball,” Cronin said.
