Rice, Houston Consulate of Brazil host Summit for Brazilian Academic Mobility

The Brasil@Rice Office and the Houston Consulate of Brazil recently hosted the Summit for Brazilian Academic Mobility at Rice’s BioScience Research Collaborative. The meeting brought top university international-education administrators and faculty members from Rice and around the country to discuss best practices for establishing long-term relationships with Brazilian universities. Rice hosted the Institute of International Education’s (IIE) leadership from Brazil and New York City. Vera Galante (IIE-Brazil) and Mie Hansen (IIE-New York City) spoke on the status of Brazil’s engagement with U.S. colleges and universities on student and faculty academic mobility and research exchange. The daylong series of panel presentations and roundtable discussions began with remarks from Rice Provost Marie Lynn Miranda, who expressed the importance of continued commitment to international exchange and research in Latin America, and specifically with Brazil.
