Criminal justice reform advocate Anthony Graves visited Rice Oct. 7 to tell his story in Duncan Hall’s McMurtry Auditorium. After being wrongly convicted of murder at 26 years old, Graves spent the next 18 years on Texas’ death row until his exoneration and release from prison in 2010. Today, he travels the country sharing his experience and encouraging civic participation in all areas, from voting to jury duty.

Graves’ talk was co-sponsored by the School of Humanities, the School of Social Sciences and the Center for Civic Leadership, which invited civic duty and criminal justice organizations to set up information kiosks in the lobby of Duncan Hall. (Photo by Katharine Shilcutt)
