RICE AND KYUSHU UNIVERSITY BEGIN TUITION-FREE EXCHANGE

Rice University and Kyushu University have agreed to a tuition-
free exchange program as an effort to foster better relations and
understanding between the United States and Japan. Each university
will exchange students and provide a year of tuition-free education
taught in English. The program, known as Japan in Today’s World
(JTW), is largely underwritten by the Japanese ministry of
education. The exchange program dovetails a Kyushu program to
improve international relations and encourage an open dialog between
cultures with a new Rice program to promote the internationalization
of the university.
