JAMAIL, ALLSHOUSE NAMED TRUSTEES OF RICE UNIVERSITY
Two new trustees and four governors were named at the May board meeting to fill posts on the Rice University Board of Governors.
Lee Hage Jamail and J.D. Bucky Allshouse have been elected trustees of Rice. There were also changes in four of the 12 term
governors’ posts. The changes take effect July 1, 1996.
Jamail, a local civic leader and a member of the board of trustees of Baylor College of Medicine, joined the Board of Governors as a term member in 1994. Allshouse, a Houston attorney, first served as a member of the board from 1988 to 1992. He was appointed as term governor in 1993 for four years.
Named as term members of the Board of Governors were Albert Kidd, manager of the planning department of Exxon Exploration Company; James Elkins III, an attorney and former executive vice president of First City Texas; and William Sick of Chicago, the retired chairman and CEO of Business Resources International. Alumni elected Bernard Pieper, vice chairman of Halliburton Company, as an alumni governor. Jack Trotter, an attorney and private investor, is retiring as a trustee after serving on the Board of Governors since 1979. Paula Meredith Mosle, a private investor in Dallas, is leaving the board
after serving four years as a term governor. In addition, Stephen J. Shaper, executive vice president and chief operating office of marketing for TeleCheck Services Inc., is leaving the board after serving four years as alumni governor. Finally, Ralph S. O’Connor, principal of Ralph S. O’Connor & Associates, is retiring as a term governor after filling an unexpired term since 1994. He had previously served as term governor from 1967-71 and from 1972-76. He was a trustee from 1976-88.
