RICE `MOB’ ENTERS WAC ERA WITH KILLER NEW UNIFORMS
Rice University’s satirical Marching Owl Band, better
known as the MOB, has always been considered unique. It may be the only college
band with an existential cheer and a string section.
Now it can make another claim: It will soon be the first college marching
band to wear pin-stripes.
The MOB enters the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) era in stylegangland
style. They’ll be sporting the ’30s Chicago gangster look: dark blue,
three-piece pin-striped suits, white Oxfords, and their trademark gray fedoras.
The MOBsters will unveil their killer new duds this Saturday, Sept. 21,
during Rice’s home opener against Kansas State University at Rice Stadium at 7
p.m.
For an advanced look at the new uniforms, and a trip down MOB memory lane,
