RENO, KEMP, BAKER TO SPEAK AT ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Public policy practitioners and academicians will
participate in the second annual conference of the James A. Baker III Institute
for Public Policy at Rice University, “Domestic Policy Challenges at the End of
the Cenutry,” on Nov. 12-13.

The annual conference will be held in the Alice Pratt Brown Hall. The
schedule of events is as follows:

Tuesday, November 12


  • 7:30 a.m. Keynote Address: Tax Policy

    Jack Kemp, former U.S. Secretary of
    Housing and Urban Development and former U.S. congressman from New York.

  • 9 a.m. Conference opening:

    Welcoming remarks from Edward P. Djerejian,
    director of the Baker Institute, and Malcolm Gillis, president of Rice
    University.

  • 9:15-11:30 a.m. Panel Discussion: Urban Crime and Violence
