MAJOR PROGRAMS AT RICE AVAILABLE ON REALAUDIO
Arafat and De Lange – Woodlands Conference Online Wednesday
An online recording of Palestine National Authority President Yasir Arafat’s
remarks at Rice University will be available on the World Wide Web at http://realaudio.rice.edu within five
minutes of the conclusion of his talk on March 5. Arafat will begin speaking at
approximately 7 p.m. The program is scheduled to end around 7:45 p.m.
Two luncheon speakers from the De Lange – Woodlands Conference on Sustainable
Development will also be featured March 5 on RealAudio. Rice University
President Malcolm Gillis will deliver a lecture titled “The Economics of the
Developing World: Poverty and Environment,” and Robert Kates with the National
Academy of Sciences/National Research Council’s Board of Sustainable Development
will talk about “Population and Consumption: From More to Enough.” Both speeches
will be available by 3 p.m.
To listen to the speeches online you must use “RealAudio Player,” a free
downloadable software. The site http://realaudio.rice.edu is now active and
contains a link to the Web page from which RealAudio Player can be downloaded.
With the RealAudio Player installed on your computer, simply click on the Arafat
link located at http://realaudio.rice.edu. The file will
begin “streaming” or sending the speech to your computer. If you need assistance
