HIGH SCHOOLERS TO EXPLORE LATEST ENGINEERING
MARVELS

Robots, space flight, the workings of the Internet and the bytes in a car are
all part of a one-day engineering celebration to be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
March 22 at Rice University.

Meet Asimov the Robot. Find out about the mechanics of flight from Earth to
Mars, how the Internet works, and how many computer bytes are under the hood of
a car, among other things. Activities will be appropriate for high school
students.

The Rice Engineering Alumni Board and the George R. Brown School of
Engineering at Rice University invite all high school teachers, students and
parents to attend Rice Engineering Day, to be held in Duncan Hall, the new
computational engineering building. The event is free and open to the public.
Lunch service is not available on campus, however, participants can purchase
lunch in the Rice Village or bring a sack lunch.

Duncan Hall is located just south of the parking lot at Entrance 16 off Rice
Boulevard, where limited parking is available. Additional parking is available
at Rice Stadium. Use Entrance 8 off University Boulevard or Entrance 12 off Rice
Boulevard A shuttle bus will go from the parking lot to Duncan Hall every 10
minutes, except noon-2 p.m., when the shuttle route will include Rice Village.
During lunch hours shuttle service will be provided every 20 minutes from the
stadium parking lot.
