ENERGY POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS FOCUS OF BAKER INSTITUTE
BRIEFING
The results of a comprehensive examination of the
Middle East and Persian Gulf’s impact on energy supplies, pricing and security
by the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy of Rice University will be
released at a media briefing on Wednesday, April 2, 1997, in the Founders Room
of Lovett Hall.
The briefing will start at 9 a.m.
Edward P. Djerejian, director of the Baker Institute, will give an overview
of the study and policy recommendations. Amy Jaffe, project coordinator for
energy research at the Baker Institute, will review details of the report
designed to address the political, economic, social, cultural and religious
trends that could affect world energy supplies in the years to come.
Among the policy areas to be discussed are U.S. sanctions, IEA membership
augmentation, export routes from the Persian Gulf, and political dynamics in the
Middle East region.
Copies of the research report and policy recommendations will be available at
