Rice Employees Fly Missions of Mercy
In September, air traffic controllers from Texas to Alabama gave a
twin-engine plane piloted by two Rice employees priority over everything in the
sky.The plane had “lifeguard” status which designates an air transport medical
mission. For years, the pilot Jim Rahe, a
career planner, and the co-pilot David
Ikenberry, an associate professor, have been volunteering their skills and
plane to fly patients and transplant organs across the south central United
States.
