Assistant News Editor Joins Staff

Dana Durbin, former publications editor for the City of Pasadena, has joined
the Rice News Office staff as assistant news editor, effective Jan. 26. In addition
to her news editing responsibilities, she will write articles for the Rice News
and will also maintain the on-line version of the Rice News.

While at the City of Pasadena, the University of Houston graduate was the editor
of two quarterly newsletters, one for citizens, the other for employees. She
handled writing and layout for both publications, was responsible for the city’s
Web site, and was involved in media and community relations.

She started her career as a newspaper reporter, first for a semiweekly newspaper
in Houston’s Clear Lake area, and then at the daily Pasadena Citizen.
