Wheelmobile to Be at Rice March 25

The "Wheel of Fortune" Wheel-mobile will be on campus noon to 1 p.m.
March 23 at the Ley Student Center parking lot, offering the first 200 students
in line a chance to spin a mini wheel for small prizes as well as the chance
to be selected for an audition appointment. "College Week from Houston"
will be filmed April 26 at the George R. Brown Convention Center and will feature
area college students. For Wheelmobile and "College Week" participant
and audience application information call Student Activities at (713) 527-4097.
"College Week" segments will be aired the week of May 11.

Rice Pitcher Throws School’s 7th No-No

Rice sophomore Jeff Nichols threw the seventh no-hitter in school history,
leading the Owls past Hawaii 5-0 on March 14. Nichols struck out six batters
and walked one. It was the first Rice no-hitter since ’83. The Owls sweep of
the Rainbows make them 12-0 in WAC play. Nichols was named WAC Baseball Pitcher
of the Week, for March 9-15.

Rice junior Damon Thames was named WAC Player of the Week. Thames, a shortstop,
hit .571 for the week and had 12 RBI. Going into the Owls’ March 17 game against
the University of Houston, Thames was leading the team in hitting (.431), home
runs (11) and RBI (40).
