Richard Averitt, graduate student, Halas nanoengineering research group, Dept.
of Electrical & Computer Engineering, presented a talk titled "Femtosecond
Electron Dynamics in Gold Nanoshells" at the March meeting of the American
Physical Society in Los Angeles, Calif., March 16-20.

Marcia Citron, professor of musicology, Shepherd School of Music, presented
the paper "Gender, Voice and Performance in the Powell-Pressburger Film
‘Tales of Hoffman’" at the U. of Wisconsin-Madison, on March 20, 1998,
as part of the school of music’s 1997-98 colloquium series.

Steven W. Lewis, project director, Transnational China Project, James A. Baker
III Institute for Public Policy, and lecturer, Dept. of Political Science, presented
a paper titled "Selling the Pulpit: Exploring the Decentralization and
Marketization of Political Advertising in China" at the Annual Symposium
of the Center for Chinese Studies, UC-Berkeley, March 14, 1998.

Dept. of Electrical & Computer Engineering, presented the talk "Higher
Order Plasmon Resonances of Gold Nanoshells" at the March meeting of the
