Cheryl J. Craig , senior researcher, Center for Education, recently had the following articles published: “Telling Stories: Accessing Beginning Teacher Knowledge” in Teacher Education Journal (9:1) and “Issues to Address, Assets to Engage: Parents in Classrooms and Schools” in Journal of Curriculum & Supervision (13:3). Craig will present a paper titled “Shifting Roles, Changing Lives” at the annual meeting of the American Educational Research Association in April 1998.
Chad Gordon , professor, Dept. of Sociology, gave a presentation titled “Sexual Self-Presentations in Current Television: Increased Sexual Autonomy in Young Women’s Constructed Characters and Narratives” (with video examples) at the Society for the Study of Symbolic Interactionism’s “Couch-Stone Symposium” meetings held at UH Hilton Conference Center, Feb. 21, 1998.
Gregory Hale , graduate student, Halas nanoengineering research group, Dept. of Electrical & Computer Engineering, presented a talk titled “Two-photon Photoemission Spectroscopy of poly(3-octylthiophene)” at the March meeting of the American Physical Society in Los Angeles, March 16-20.
Kevin F. Kelly , graduate student, Halas nanoengineering research group, Dept. of Electrical & Computer Engineering, presented a talk titled “Characterization of Localized Defect Sites on Graphite Surfaces” at the March meeting of the American Physical Society in Los Angeles, March 16-20.
Sydney M. Lamb , the Agnes Cullen Arnold Professor of Linguistics and Cognitive Sciences, gave a presentation titled “When Words are No Good” for the Foundation for Contemporary Theology, Houston on Feb. 19, 1998.
Steven J. Oldenburg , graduate student, Halas nanoengineering research group, Dept. of Electrical & Computer Engineering, presented a talk titled “Higher Order Plasmon Resonances of Gold Nanoshells” at the March meeting of the American Physical Society in Los Angeles, March 16-20.
Sarah L. Westcott , graduate student, Halas nanoengineering research group, Dept. of Electrical & Computer Engineering, presented a talk titled “Optical Properties of Controlled Nanoscale Assemblies of Metal Nanoparticles” at the March meeting of the American Physical Society in Los Angeles, March 16-20.
