Commencement, Academic Quadrangle. Commencement address,
Kurt Vonnegut, author.

Following Commencement

Receptions at the residential colleges for undergraduate degree recipients
and their guests.

Luncheon at Grand Hall, Rice Memorial Center for doctoral degree recipients
and their guests. Admittance is by ticket only and invitations are issued by
the Office of Graduate Studies. Info: (713) 527-4002. 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Student Art Exhibition, Rice University Art Gallery. 2-3 p.m.

NROTC Commissioning Ceremony in Alice Pratt Brown Hall; reception following.

6:30 p.m

Association of Rice Alumni Honors Dinner for recipients of Distinguished Alumni,
Meritorious Service and Gold Medal Awards. Info: (713) 527-4678. In case of
inclement weather, officials will notify the university switchboard [(713) 527-8101]
and the Campus Police [(713) 527-6000] by 7 a.m. If an inclement weather plan
is put into effect, the following procedures will be put in place:

All degree candidates will assemble in Autry Court by 7:45 a.m.

If the inclement weather plan is in effect the entire Commencement ceremony,
including conferral of degrees, will take place in Autry Court. Two tickets
for family and guests may be provided to each degree candidate with regalia.
Additonal family members and guests will be accommodated on a first-come, first-serve
