Wellness Center Offering Fitness Classes for Mind, Body

A new program aimed to enhance mind, body and spiritual fitness is one
of several courses the Wellness Center is offering this semester. The course,
titled NIA, which means neuromuscular interactive action, is designed to
stimulate the flow of energy throughout the body.

Other courses being offered include cardio bench, hatha yoga and low-impact
weightlifting. Classes begin Aug. 31 and end Dec. 12.

Most courses will be held in the Exercise Science Activity Room in Rice
Gymnasium (entrance No. 8 off of University Boulevard).

Class fees for faculty, staff, recreation program members and their spouses
are $75 for classes meeting three times per week, $65 for twice-weekly meetings,
and $40 for weekly classes.

Fees for students are $60 for courses meeting three times per week, $55
for classes meeting twice weekly, and $35 for classes meeting weekly.

Alumni rates are $90 for classes meeting three times each week, $80 for
twice-weekly classes, and $45 for weekly classes.

The community may take classes at the rate of $100 for classes meeting
three times a week, $85 for twice-weekly courses, and $50 for classes meeting
weekly.

Discounted rates are available to participants enrolling in two or more
classes during the fall semester. All classes require at least 15 participants.
