Rice Sponsoring ‘Rice for the Cure’
The Rice University Women’s Resource Center is sponsoring "Rice for the Cure,"
an effort to register at least 100 women in the Rice community for the Oct. 3
Race for the Cure event benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Rice students, faculty and staff can still register for the event. Packets are
available at the Womens’ Resource Center, near Kelly Lounge in the Rice Memorial
Center, through Oct. 2. For questions, call the Women’s Resource Center, (713)

The Rice group participating in the event will meet at 6:30 a.m. at Lovett House
for breakfast, packet pick-up and transportation to the race, which is being held
in the Galleria area.
Rice will be recognized at the 5K race for its efforts in registering 100 or more
women for the race.
Families Weekend Set for Oct. 1-3
Families Weekend 1998, set for Oct. 1-3, kicks off Thursday with the 4 p.m. registration
and barbecue at Farnsworth Pavilion in the Ley Student Center.
Weekend activities include a chamber music recital, one-act plays, campus tours,
college masters lecture series, social events, sports games, panel discussions
and coffees with masters. Families can also attend classes with students on Friday.
