Wiredu Talk to Reflect on Free Will

Reflections on free will and the concept of a person will be the topic of a
talk by Kwasi Wiredu, a professor at the University of South Florida and an
expert in Western and African philosophy.
Wiredu will deliver his talk titled "Determination, Free Will and the
Concept of a Person: Some African Reflections" at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23,
in 1070 Duncan Hall. The event, which is sponsored by the Department of Religious
Studies and the Department of Philosophy, is free and open to the public.
Wiredu has taught courses at the University of Keele in England, the University
of Ghana, the University of Ibadan in Africa, the University of Richmond in
Virginia. He has also served as a visiting professor at UCLA and Carleton College
in Minnesota.
He has taught courses in the philosophy of mind, ethics, contemporary philosophy,
symbolic logic, foundations of logic and problems in logical theory, African
philosophy, great philosophers of the Western world, critical thinking, epistemology
and a selected topics course in faith, reason and morality.
