Alumni Sought to Share Experiences with Students
RICE NEWS
April 22, 1999
The Association of Rice Alumni is seeking mentors who are willing to become
involved in campus life and share their life and work experiences with Rice
students.
Students and alumni who are interested in the Student Alumni Mentoring Program
should sign up by June 30. Detailed information about the program and sign-up
forms are available at http://www.ruf.rice.edu/~alumni/mentoring.html.
Mentors and students will be matched as closely as possible by interests to
ensure that encounters are beneficial for all. The alumni mentors will meet
the students with whom they are paired at an Association of Rice Alumni reception
next fall.
Possible benefits for students include gaining insight into the working world
from someone familiar with the Rice experience, learning about student developmental
opportunities for particular majors or careers and learning about alternative
career paths related to student interests and majors.
Mentors will have an opportunity to become more involved on a personal level
with the Rice community and to offer students the benefit of their real world
experiences.
