Student Art Exhibit Opening Set April 29
An opening reception for the 36th annual student art exhibit is set for Thursday,
April 29, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Rice Art Gallery.
"Moving On," will run from April 29 through May 15. The work of a
"baker’s dozen" of Rice graduating seniors who have majored in art
and art history will be showcased.
The exhibit will also include a special installation piece created for the
Sewall Hall service elevator and works by students from undergraduate studio
classes.
The Rice Players and Rice Dance Theatre will perform at 6 p.m. on the Gallery
Plaza, followed by an awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m. The opening for nongraduating
student work is from 7-9 p.m. at the Rice Media Center. Free shuttle service
from the gallery to the Media Center will be available.Wine and ale will be
provided by the Bank Draft Brewing Co.

U.S. Trade Minister to Speak April 27
Ambassador Charlene Barshefsky, the U.S. trade representative in the Clinton
administration, will lead a roundtable discussion on "U.S. Trade Policy
for the 21st Century" on Monday, April 26, at Rice University’s James A.
Baker III Institute for Public Policy.
The program will start at 11 a.m. in James A. Baker III Hall. Students, faculty
and staff are invited to attend.
