Asian American students will fill Rice’s Jones College for the 11th annual
Youth Leadership Conference scheduled for June 26-27.
The conference, which teaches Asian-American youth leadership skills and ethnic
awareness, will feature a number of workshops and speakers.
One of the guest lecturers will be Houston Chronicle higher education writer
Lydia Lum, who will discuss how Asian "forefathers" and their immigration
journeys prior to World War II laid the foundation for opportunities for young
Asian-Americans today.
Other conference topics include facts and myths about the Asian-American community,
how to develop leadership skills and how to build coalitions.
