Taft to Lecture on Refugee Crisis
The architect of the United States’ response to the refugee problem caused by Serbian aggression in Kosovo will speak at Rice about the international refugee crisis.
Julia Taft, the assistant secretary of state for population, refugees and migration, will give a lecture titled “U.S. Response to the International Refugee Crisis” at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18, at the James A. Baker III Hall. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Taft’s lecture will address how the United States responds to international crises that produce refugees and its obligation to those dispossessed people.
The event is sponsored by the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy and by the American Refugee Committee.
