Professor of Chemistry Jim Tour’s research to develop a molecular computer&emdash;expected to be 100 billion times faster than today’s personal computer&emdash;was the focus of an article, which also discussed the breakthroughs in nanotechnology led by Rice professors and Nobel Prize-winners Richard Smalley and Robert Curl.

An article about the impact Houston Mayor Lee Brown’s participation in the failed arena proposal will have on his political future quoted Robert Stein, dean of social sciences and the Lena Gohlman Fox Professor of Political Science.

An article about investing referenced a study of 5,000 random portfolios conducted by David Ikenberry, associate professor of management at the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management.

San Antonio Express-News

An article about Houston’s mayoral race quoted Robert Stein, dean of the School of Social Sciences and the Lena Gohlman Fox Professor of Political Science.

The El Paso Times

An article profiled Rice alumnus Alfred J. Griffin Jr., who was honored with a Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Award for his work in the computer chip industry.

The New York Times

An article about the development of molecular computers by some of the nation’s top research laboratories cited the work of Rice’s Professor of Chemistry Jim Tour, who, working with Yale researchers, created the crucial molecular switch. Tour was also quoted in the article.
