Library Crime
Watch created
The Rice University
Police Department has announced the implementation this
semester of a crime watch program for Fondren Library. The
Library Crime Watch is being spearheaded by officers Dennis
Senter and Pete Martinez, Cpl. Alex Adames and Sgt. Dianna
Marshall.
The police department
and library staff will work together to reduce thefts and
other incidents in the library. The program is similar to
the crime watch program that has been ongoing in the residential
colleges.
Senter will be
the primary contact for the program. He can be reached at
(713) 348-6000 or by e-mail at <senter@rice.edu>.
All ideas and suggestions are welcome.
‘Who’s Who
Among Students’ nominations being accepted
The Office of
Student Activities currently is accepting nominations for Whos Who Among Students in American Universities
and Colleges.
The deadline
for receiving nominations is Friday, Nov. 3. Nominees must
be juniors, seniors or graduate-level students. Selection
will be based on scholarship ability, participation and
leadership in academic and extracurricular activities, citizenship
and service to Rice and potential for future achievement.
Nomination forms
can be accessed on the student activities Web site, <www.ruf.rice.edu/~stact/>.
The selection
committee would like to hear personal impressions of the
nominee and what sets the nominee apart from others. Do
not send a resume or list of activities in place of the
nomination form; the committee will ask the nominee to submit
these later. The Office of Student Activities welcomes as
many nominations as faculty and staff would like to submit.
