Job, author of Just Because Im Latin Doesnt
Mean I Mambo: A Success Guide for Hispanic Americans,
will be among the featured speakers at the fourth annual
Hispanic Professional Leadership Day conference at Rice
University.
Presented by
Rices Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management
and the National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA), the
all-day conference will take place Friday, Aug. 3, in the
Grand Hall of the Rice Memorial Center.
The purpose
of the conference is to bring together Hispanic professionals
to discuss critical issues for excelling in todays
multicultural, technical and global business environment.
Hispanic
Professional Leadership Day is important because it gives
participants an excellent opportunity to network with other
Hispanic professionals, said Martha Salinas, president
of the NSHMBA Houston chapter.
In addition,
the types of professional development workshops offered
are not available elsewhere. Participants will gain insight
into the leading issues that are facing the environment
as a whole and the Hispanic business front.
There will be
a kickoff reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at
Reliant Energys reception lobby on the first floor
at 1111 Louisiana St. City Controller Sylvia Garcia will
give the welcoming remarks.
Job will give
the morning keynote speech. He is vice president of market
management for the New York Life Insurance Co. and is responsible
for the development and implementation of the companys
strategic initiatives in the Hispanic and Asian markets.

Lyndon Taylor, principal with Heidrick & Struggles,

John Clemens, professor of management at Hartwick
College, The Classic Touch: Lessons in Leadership
from Homer to Hemingway.
Carolina Weitzman, president and CEO of NATEX Corp.
Architects, and Dan Valdez, executive instructor at the
University of Houstons College of Business, Entrepreneurship:
Transforming Ideas into Action.
Juan M. Garcia, senior manager with Andersen Consulting,
and Dwain Celistan, a consultant with Celistan & Associates,
Navigating Corporate Culture.
Jimmy Cabrera, president of Success Through Excellence,
Leadership Is Not About Being Macho: Breaking Barriers
and Stereotypes.
In addition
to the array of different workshops and networking opportunities,
the conference will provide a continental breakfast, lunch
