congress meeting set for Sept. 17

The Rice Space
Institute is hosting a planning meeting of the World Space
Congress Monday, Sept. 17, in Herman Brown Hall, Room 227,
at 4:15 p.m.
All Rice faculty
and staff are invited to attend.
The World Space
Congress (WSC), which will be held in Houston in October
2002, will convene 13,000 scientific, technical, business
and government leaders representing every facet of the international
space community.
The conference
is being organized by the American Institute of Aeronautics
and Astronautics (AIAA) under the auspices of the National
Academy of Sciences.
AIAA conference
organizers Angelo Iasiello and Mike Lewis will be at Mondays
meeting to give an update on the major events associated
with the WSC and to recruit Rice Space Institute members
to help with various projects, including the Space Policy
Summit, to be held at Rices James A. Baker III Institute
for Public Policy.
