Any Rice students,
staff and faculty who are not already registered to vote
are encouraged to do so. But they better hurry because Feb.
11 is the last day to register to vote in the March primary
election, which will include important local, state and
national races.

Voter registration
forms are available at key campus locations, including the
Welcome Center in Lovett Hall, Entrance B, and the Student
Center help desk. Students also can find the forms at their
colleges, and staff members can obtain the forms from their
department coordinators.

In addition,
a Web site is to be created, <www.vote.rice.edu>,
that will offer a link to online voter registration as well
as information on the upcoming primary election.
In the March 12 primary election, voters will select the
Republican and Democratic candidates for numerous offices.
Positions on the ballot will include governor, lieutenant
governor, U.S. Senate and House of Representative seats
and Texas senate and house seats. Also on the ballot will
be judicial and state Board of Education races and county
positions, including Harris County Commissioners Court seats.
The primary election precedes the November general election.
