to honor HISD collaborations

Rice University
President Malcolm Gillis will host a special reception April
15 in honor of everyone who works on collaborative education
programs involving Rice and the Houston Independent School
District.
The evenings special guest will be Kaye Stripling,
superintendent of schools for HISD. She and Gillis will
speak about the distinguished history of collaboration between
HISD and Rice, and they will discuss their vision of how
the institutions will work together in the future to educate
both students and teachers.
The program is to begin at 5 p.m. in McMurtry Auditorium,
Anne and Charles Duncan Hall. The program also will feature
a question-and-answer session with Richard Tapia, the Noah
Harding Professor of Computational and Applied Mathematics
and director of Rices Center for Excellence and Equity
in Education. A reception from 6 to 7 p.m. will follow in
Martel Hall.
The event will be attended by HISD educators and administrators,
as well as elected representatives and officials from the
local, state and federal level. All Rice administrators,
faculty and staff are invited to attend.
