biographer to speak at Rice

Robert Caro,
biographer of former President Lyndon Baines Johnson, will
discuss his new book, Master of the Senate,
at the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy at
6 p.m. May 9.
Caro chronicles LBJs U.S. Senate years (1949-1960)
in his book, which is the third volume of Caros ongoing
biography of the 36th president of the United States, who
took office in 1963 after President John F. Kennedy was
assassinated. Caro has received the Pulitzer Prize in Biography,
the Francis Parkman Prize by the Society of American Historians
and the National Book Critics Circle Award (twice).
His lecture will conclude with a book signing at 7 p.m.
