Owls look to beat Texas Longhorns twice May 14

…………………………………………………………………

The Rice Owls
will have the opportunity to beat the Texas Longhorns twice
May 14: Once on the diamond and then in the “Rice-Texas
Gift of Life” blood drive for the Gulf Coast Regional
Blood Center.

The Rice-University of Texas blood drive competition —
phase two of the second annual drive conducted by the Association
of Rice Alumni — will take place in the Fox Gymnasium
behind Reckling Park from noon to 8 p.m. on the day of the
Rice-UT baseball game. As both teams gun for NCAA tournament
berths, fans can roll up their sleeves to help their school
secure a trophy for the most units of blood donated.

Blood donated in the schools’ names at any Gulf Coast
Regional Blood Center during the week of May 11-18 also
will count toward the final tally.

In its first phase, April 1-4, the alumni blood drive collected
201 units of blood, which were donated at multiple locations
on the Rice campus.

To donate blood on game day, call the Blood Center at (713)
791-6231 to schedule a donation time. The Rice group number
is 5023.
To schedule a donation at one of the blood center’s
