The following
news and events were provided by the Staff Advisory Committee
(SAC):
RiceFest 2002
a Great Success
The work of the RiceFest committee, chaired by Sarah Gonzales,
HiPerSoft Web systems administrator, and that of the benefits
staff in human resources paid off with a successful RiceFest
2002. The April 16 event drew more than 50 participants
from inside and outside the hedges to take part in the annual
benefits fair that offered employees an opportunity to meet
with representatives of university benefit providers, of
various health and financial plans and of other university-provided
programs. About 1,000 employees attended and took advantage
of the offerings, which included massages, health checks
and food provided by Rice Catering. This benefits fair was
the largest RiceFest in both vendor participation and employee
attendance.
Brown Bag Luncheon
Employees are invited to attend the Staff Advisory Committees
next Brown Bag Lunch seminar, Creative Thinking,
May 15 from noon to 1 p.m., 101 Howard Keck Hall. This interactive
session is designed to encourage participants to think outside
the box as they examine self-limiting thinking patterns
and use their own individual creative-thinking process.

Dont forget that staff and faculty are eligible to
register for a variety of computer short courses that range
from introductions to Macintosh and Windows to all levels
