RDA
presents lectures on architectre in Chicago

The contemporary
state of architecture in Chicago and the upper Midwest region
of the United States will be the topic of a lecture series
presented by the Rice Design Alliance (RDA) Wednesdays,
Jan. 21-Feb. 18. The lecture series, titled “Chicago
Architecture Now,” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. in
Brown Auditorium at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, 1001
Bissonnet.

Of all the cities
in America, Chicago has consistently represented some of
the most important developments in the architecture of this
country. From the masonry buildings of H.H. Richardson and
Daniel Burnham, to the expansive prairie homes of Frank
Lloyd Wright or the expressed steel frame of Mies van der
Rohe’s work, Chicago presents a virtual catalogue of
major movements in 19th- and 20th-century American architecture.

Featured speakers
will be:

• Blair
Kamin, architecture critic at the Chicago Tribune, Jan.
21

• Doug Garofalo,
Garofalo Architects, Jan. 28

• Brad Lynch,
Brininstool + Lynch Architects, Feb. 4

• Ralph
Johnson, Perkins & Will, Feb. 11

• Jeanne
Gang, Studio Gang/O’Donnell, Feb. 18

Advanced tickets
are available at the RDA office through series tickets:
general public, $40; RDA and MFA members, $25; and students,
$10. Upon availability, single tickets may be on sale the
night of the lecture: general public, $10; RDA and MFA members,
