Wilson named
2004 coach of the year

Rice men’s
basketball head coach Willis Wilson has been selected as
the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) District
9 Coach of the Year for 2004. It is Wilson’s first
District 9 Coach of the Year award, and it marks the first
time that a Rice Owls men’s basketball coach has been
awarded the honor.

“This is
an honor I share with my players,” Wilson said. “I
have always believed that a coach is only as good as the
players that he coaches. The players make the baskets, play
defense, and they are above all the reason for Rice’s
success this year.”
