An article featured the research presented at the annual meeting of the Geological Society of America by John Anderson, the W. Maurice Ewing Chair in Oceanography and professor of earth science. Anderson’s research concluded that as the rise in sea levels accelerates, the U.S. coastline will see dramatic changes, such as Galveston moving more quickly to merge with the mainland.

An article about the Los Angeles crusade of Billy Graham quoted William Martin, the Harry and Hazel Chavanne Professor of Religion and Public Policy. “Evangelism is so much larger and more diverse that it’s difficult for anyone to dominate it in the way he has,” Martin said. “Churches are so much more robust, there’s the question of why they should put so much time and money into something when they don’t need to be rescued.”
