Deborah J. Barrett, senior lecturer of management and director of MBA Communications at the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management, conducted a workshop titled “Strengthening Leadership Communication by Developing Emotional Intelligence” at the Women as Global Leaders conference.

Karen Broker, professor of visual arts, had a solo exhibition, “A Mad Girl’s Small Notes,” at McClain Gallery in Houston. Her prints will be included in a new book, “State of the Arts,” published by Pearson Scott Foresman, due out this month.

Randal L. Hall, acting managing editor of the Journal of Southern History, presented a paper titled “Radio and the Southern Renaissance” at the Houston Area Southern Historians Seminar.

Stephen Zeff, the Herbert S. Autrey Professor of Accounting, published a two-part article, “The Evolution of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles,” in the January and February issues of The CPA Journal. In February, he gave seminars in Italy on “The Evolution of IASC into the IASB and the Challenges It Faces.” In Pisa, he gave a seminar on “The Politics of Standard Setting in Accounting.”
