In an article about the various means to meet the United States’ energy needs, Amy Myers Jaffe, the Wallace S. Wilson Fellow for Energy Studies at the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy and associate director of the Rice Energy Program at the Shell Center for Sustainability, said that in contrast to the energy crisis in the 1970s, “We know what the solutions are. We don’t have to make a better car; we already have a better car.”
