How well do you know your fellow members of the Rice community? After joining the Rice staff July 5, the new assistant editor of Rice News, Arie Wilson, answered a few questions to allow us to get acquainted with her:

How long have you been working at Rice?
A little more than a month. Before coming to Rice, I was a reporter at The Courier in Conroe.
What is your spouse’s name?
Mark Passwaters; we were just married in March.
Where were you born?
Natchez, Mississippi
What is the best part of your job?
Meeting wonderful people. Everyone at Rice is very enjoyable.
What book are you currently reading?
Just started “All My Friends Are Going to be Strangers” by Larry McMurtry
What is your favorite time of day?
I’m a morning person, but I also love staying up late.
If you could have any job you wanted, what would it be?
I really wouldn’t want a job so much as I would rather be independently wealthy.
What is your favorite movie?
I’m a sucker for old movies. My favorite drama or romance is “Casablanca” or “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
Paper or plastic?
Paper — after we chop down those trees, let’s recycle them.
What traits do you admire in people?
I admire those who have a healthy balance ofhonesty, humor, professionalism and kindness in their lives. I also respect those who sacrifice for their beliefs.
What is your greatest fear?
Being too tired or fed up with things to enjoy life. I’m so scared of being jaded.
What is something you would never do?
Participate in a reality television show
Favorite day of the week?
Sunday — it’s the most relaxing day where you have little to do and the world seems to slow down.
