Local theater offers discount tickets

Stages Repertory Theatre is offering special discount tickets to Rice University faculty, staff and students for “Silence,” the first show of the 2005-06 season.

The discounted ticket offer is valid for preview performances Oct. 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m. To receive this discount, tickets must be purchased in advance by calling the box office at 713-527-0123.

Free flu shots available

Human Resources is sponsoring free flu shots for all benefits-eligible faculty, staff and retirees. Spouses, domestic partners and non-benefits eligible faculty and staff may purchase the vaccine for $20 each, payable by check or cash.

The shots will be administered from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. on two separate dates:

• Monday, Oct. 24 in Farnsworth Pavilion, Rice Memorial Center

• Tuesday, Nov. 8 in Miner Lounge, Ley Student Center

Faculty, staff eligible for discount

The Rice Campus Bookstore, in conjunction with Barnes and Noble, has made arrangements for Rice University faculty and staff to receive a 10 percent discount at the Barnes and Noble Superstore at 3003 W. Holcombe Blvd.

To begin enjoying the discount, faculty and staff members must stop by the Rice bookstore to receive a special superstore discount card.
