Rice Observatory hosts Halloween party
The Rice University Campus Observatory and the Rice Space Institute (RSI) will host a Halloween Party at the observatory Monday, Oct. 31, from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.
RSI will provide bottled water, soft drinks and candy for kids, and there will be a costume contest.
Mars will be at its closest point to Earth Oct. 29, and the viewing for Venus will also be exceptional this month.

Rice literary magazine seeks submissions
The University Blue, the literary and arts magazine of Rice University, is seeking submissions from all members of the Rice community, including faculty and staff.
The magazine accepts works of prose, poetry or art — with the best in each category winning a $100 prize. The deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Rice Night at the Rockets basketball game
