Rice Police Department to hold Citizens Police Academy

The Rice University Police Department (RUPD) is beginning enrollment for the Citizens Police Academy, scheduled for the spring semester.
The class will be held on Tuesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. from Jan. 17 to April 18. The course will be held in the RUPD Law Enforcement Training Center, located in the main police building.

The class is free and open to members of the Rice community.

Campus dining options for break

The Faculty Club’s last day of operation for 2005 will be Friday, Dec. 16. The facility will remain closed for the entire winter break. The Faculty Club will reopen Monday, Jan. 9, with normal operating hours.

Sammy’s Café will remain open until Dec. 23. The grill will be open from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The hot line will be open from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

International agreement

Wu Qidi, left, vice-minister of education of the People’s Republic of China, and Rice University President David Leebron sign an exchange agreement with China’s Fudan University Dec. 2. The agreement will pave the way for an exchange of undergraduate and graduate students and scholars between Rice and Fudan universities. Madame Wu also took a brief tour of the Rice campus, saw a research presentation and participated in a discussion with the president and deans.
