Deborah Barrett, senior lecturer and director of the managerial communications program at the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management, recently had her paper “An Approach to Managing the Challenges of Cross-Cultural Communication in Today’s Organizations” accepted for presentation at the Association for Business Communication’s European region 2006 convention.
James Castañeda, professor of Spanish, delivered a paper titled “The Universality of the Quixotic” at a Pan American Round Table meeting.
At the Educause Southwest Regional Conference in Austin, Bill Klemm, a support specialist in Information Technology (IT), and Rick Peterson, director of academic and research computing in IT, gave a presentation titled “Good Fences Make Good Neighbors.” Barry Ribbeck, director for systems, architecture and infrastructure in IT, gave a presentation titled “The Business of Identity Management.” Ribbeck also co-presented “Federated Library Access: Moving to Production.”
The work of Basilios Poulos, professor of visual arts, was featured in a recent group exhibition at Joan Wich & Co. Gallery in Houston.
John Sparagana, associate professor of visual arts, was in a group show titled “In This House That I Call Home” at Western Project in Los Angeles. Sparagana is showing several pieces from his “Sleeping Beauty” series. He is also exhibiting in a Web-based Japanese gallery titled “Tagboat.” Moniquemeloche, a Chicago gallery, recently exhibited his work at the “Pulse” fair.
Geoffrey Winningham, professor of visual arts, has a photography exhibit, “Mi Pueblo: My Mexican Home,” on display at the Jung Center in Houston through March 29.
Anthea Yan Zhang, assistant professor of management at the Jones School, recently published her paper “The Presence of a Separate COO/President and Its Impact on Strategic Change and CEO Dismissal” in the Strategic Management Journal.
Stephen Zeff, the Herbert S. Autrey Professor of Accounting at the Jones School, recently gave a lecture on the politics of international accounting standards to the staff of the UK Financial Reporting Council in London. He lectured on a similar theme at a seminar held at the College of Europe in Belgium.
