Music festival scheduled for April 22
From morning to evening April 22, the Shepherd School of Music will be alive with chamber music as students from the school celebrate the genre at the “Chamber Music Festival: Spotlight on Mozart, Shostakovich and Friends.”
This year marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of Mozart and the 100th anniversary of the birth of Shostakovich. The Shepherd School is celebrating these two musical giants and others — including Arensky, Bartok, Beethoven, Dvorak, Glanert, Andrew Norman, Prokofiev and Schubert — with performances of several notable chamber works from their times.
All the performances are free and open to the public and will be held in Duncan Recital Hall, Alice Pratt Brown Hall. For concert performance times, visit the Shepherd School Web site, <www.rice.edu/music>, or call the Shepherd School Concert Office, 713-348-8000.
