Gaurav Bhatnagark, graduate student in chemical and biomolecular engineering, received first prize in the 2006 Society of Petroleum Engineers Gulf Coast Regional Student Paper Contest.

Science magazine featured a report by Michael Diehl, professor of bioenginering. Diehl is the first and corresponding author of the paper titled “Engineering Cooperativity in Biomotor-Protein Assemblies.”

Seethu Seetharaman, associate professor of management at the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management, presented “Empirical Analysis of Competitive Pricing Strategies with Complementary Product Lines,” which he co-authored, at a marketing research seminar at Tilburg University in the Netherlands and at Catolica University in Lisbon, Portugal.

Graduate students Hui Wang, Kanglin Wang and Yaqiong Xu won the Chinese government’s award for outstanding students abroad. The award is given annually to Chinese Ph.D. students who receive no financial support from government.

Stephen Zeff, the Herbert S. Autrey Professor of Accounting, received the Max Block Award for the best article during 2005 in The CPA Journal for his article “The Evolution of U.S. GAAP: The Political Forces Behind Professional Standards.”

A paper titled “Stock Market Reactions to Executive Oaths: The Signaling Role of CEO Backgrounds” by Yan Anthea Zhang, assistant professor of management at the Jones School, has been judged to be one of the best accepted papers in the 2006 Academy of Management Meeting and will be published in the proceedings.
