Faculty Senate to meet Sept. 27
The second Faculty Senate meeting of the 2006-07 academic year will be Wednesday, Sept. 27, in the Founder’s Room, Lovett Hall.
Meetings of the Faculty Senate are open to all members of the university community, but may be closed at the discretion of the Senate. Meetings are scheduled for noon to 2 p.m.
The meeting agenda will be posted on the Faculty Senate Web site, <www.professor.rice.edu/professor/faculty_senate.asp>, one week prior to the meeting. Dates of future Faculty Senate meetings also can be found there.
President to hold open office hours
President David Leebron will hold the first open-office hour of the fall semester from 3 to 4 p.m. Sept. 28.
The hour offers students a time to convey concerns, ask questions or just engage the president in conversation.
The open hours will be held in the Office of the President; appointments are not necessary.
These office hours are conducted with an “open door” approach, allowing as many students to come as will fit in the president’s office. Thus, individual problems will continue to best be raised in private appointments with the appropriate university officials.
