Forum on writing for the Web set for Nov. 3
The Rice Web Forum will present “Writing for the Web,” a session by Dawna Jarvis, Web director in the Division of Public Affairs.
The forum will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, in Miner Lounge, Rice Memorial Center, and it is open to students, staff and faculty who create, maintain, design or contribute content for Rice Web sites.

Solaris operating system boot camp at Rice
Sun Microsystems has selected Rice University as the site for its Solaris 10 Boot Camp, which will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 2 in McMurtry Auditorium, Anne and Charles Duncan Hall.
This free, interactive, one-day session provides the opportunity for UNIX platform users to learn about the updates in the Solaris 10 operating system that are helping enterprises and education institutions reduce costs and complexity, while minimizing business risk.
This session will be packed with technical content and will go beyond the boot camp overviews of Solaris 10 to focus specifically on issues and concerns: Open Solaris, Sun Studio 11, migrating applications to Solaris 10 from Linux as well as Solaris 10 APIs.
