IT to no longer use McAfee VirusScan
Recent changes in the way McAfee provides antivirus updates for its VirusScan software is forcing Rice’s Division of Information Technology to disband its hosting of a local mirror for VirusScan updates.
Newer versions automatically will be referred to the McAfee site for updating, but older versions will not and must be replaced.
IT recommends that all McAfee VirusScan users upgrade immediately to the Trend Micro products. Information on making this switch is available at <www.rice.edu/it/resources/security/virus/index.html> or at the Help Desk at 713-348-4357 or <helpdesk@rice.edu>.
