Political philosopher Heyd to discuss toleration

Prominent moral and political philosopher David Heyd will present a lecture titled ”Toleration: Moral, Not Political”
Nov. 30 as part of the Rice University Lecture Series on Ethics, Politics and Society.
Heyd, the Chaim Perelman Professor of Philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, combines a broad humanistic sensibility with analytic skill. He is the author of ”Supererogation: Its Status in Ethical Theory” and ”Genetics: Moral Issues in the Creation of People” and editor of ”Toleration: An Elusive Virtue.” His recent research projects include the role of chance and luck in ethics and politics, global justices and moral obligations to future generations. Heyd also is a distinguished bioethicist, and he currently is senior visiting scholar in the Department of Bioethics at the National Institutes of Health.
