An article reported that computer programmers have to choose whether to outsource themselves to high-paying companies or hold a less lucrative, but more stable, job. Moshe Vardi, the Karen Ostrum George Professor in Computational Engineering, commented on the importance of programmers having regular, informal communication with their project managers.

A story reported on the risk of electronic voting machines and states having different voting rules. Dan Wallach, associate professor of computer engineering and in electrical and computer engineering, said, ”What we have today is every state doing its own thing. Some states are very aggressive in requiring newer and better technologies. Other states are holding back, waiting for vendors to implement things. It’s really all over the map what different states are doing.”
